Sometimes, works in progress aren’t much to look at. You need to see the final piece to really appreciate it. That’s not true of Orlando Arocena’s digital illustrations. Strip away everything but black vector lines on a white canvas and they still look cool.

Orlando doesn’t obscure the tools he uses to create the art, either. On the Behance project page, he spells them out: an iMac, a Wacom tablet, and Adobe Illustrator CC, with “no tracing, no Gradient Mesh, no embedded rasters.”

Orlando calls this homage to the movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes “pop-deco.” You may simply call it amazing.
