Mighty Oak: A Young Animation Studio Growing Strong

By Create Staff

The three women behind Mighty Oak—Jess Peterson, Michaela Olsen, and Emily Collins—create striking stop-motion animation, employing intricate handmade objects in inventive ways. Their quirky, playful work frequently has a documentary feel and attracts a wide array of clients, including West Elm, the New York Times, Nick Jr., and TED Talks.

The Mighty Oak team (from left to right): Michaela Olsen (creative director and partner), Jess Peterson (CEO, creative producer, and founder), and Emily Collins (creative director and partner).

But Mighty Oak is more than a creative agency with a commitment to top-notch work for clients. They’re also committed to pursuing self-initiated projects with a purpose—for instance, their series HATCH Stories, which is devoted to the success stories of women entrepreneurs. At the same time, Mighty Oak focuses on bringing diverse stories to life, and on supporting other women and girls who want to pursue careers in animation.

We recently visited Mighty Oak in their Brooklyn studio, to get to know the team and how they work! Click on the image below to watch the Adobe Create video profile.
