How to Talk So Clients Will Listen, and Listen So Designers Will Talk

Bonnie Siegler is the founder of the multidisciplinary design studio Eight and a Half and the author of two books—Dear Client, This Book Will Teach You How to Get What You Want from Creative People and Signs of Resistance: A Visual History of Protest in America. She has a long list of prestigious clients, she’s received numerous awards, and Graphic Design USA magazine named her one of the 50 most influential graphic designers working today.

So she clearly knows a thing or two about working with people—and in a presentation at 2018’s Adobe MAX, she shared her hard-earned wisdom. In this recorded session, Siegler discusses how to get off to the right start with a client, the best ways to respond to presentations, and why focus groups are worthless.

People who work in creative fields often complain about clients interfering in their creative process, making it more difficult for them to do their best work. In this presentation, recorded at Adobe MAX 2018, Bonnie Siegler discusses how to develop more-successful client-creative relationships.
