5 & 3/4 Questions

1. Describe yourself and your work.

I am a cosmic creative shape-shifting hobo from the northeast of Scotland obsessed with character design and tribal sci-fi art.

2. How did you get started?

I started making marks as soon as I could hold a pencil and never really stopped! My current Cosmic Nuggets version started in 2008, when I began to get sick of computers and wanted to make a series of alien characters drawn on paper—still going with this although coming up to my ten-year anniversary and getting itchy feet.

3. What piece of work best represents you and why?

Tough! If I had to choose one piece of work to best represent what I’ve been doing, it would have to be one of my “warriors” [three are shown below]—they give me the most enjoyment and satisfaction.

4. What are you into currently?

Right now I’m into cats and mice and formulating my debut coloring book/zine.

5. What are three things you’ve learned that young creatives should know?

Ooft. Find your own style, develop said style, and never give up on your dreams!! And bonus—draw/share as much as you can, and don’t be scared to make mistakes.

5¼. Favorite color?  Black (and yellow and red).

5½. Favorite website?  Behance.net, Instagram, Ello.

5¾. Pet peeve?  Many of those! Right now my biggest pet peeve is trying to switch my brain into a business mode rather than just a maker brain.
