Celebrating Sports Fans with Aundre Larrow

By Summer Wilson

As photographer Aundre Larrow’s year as an Adobe Creative Resident comes to an close, he has amassed an impressive body of work on his website Stories From Here, where, through interviews and photographs, he explores how home frames identity—he describes the project as a “visual study of how our sense of place impacts us.” And for a recent chapter in this project, Larrow turned his camera (and his interviewing skills) on San Francisco Bay Area sports fans, for a special collaboration with Adobe and the NBA Golden State Warriors.

Adobe was a sponsor of this year’s Warriors Fan Night—working with Larrow to produce a T-shirt for every fan who attended that evening.

The T-shirt that Larrow designed featured quotes taken from the intimate interviews he conducted with fans. He says, “The goal is for each fan to understand that their relationship with the team is extraordinary.”

Larrow says, “I think sports is super fascinating because whatever team you grew up loving is the team you love your whole life. We derive this joy from people we’ve often never met, but they rep a place that was special to us.” Watch our video below, and check out more portraits and interviews that Larrow conducted in San Francisco, Oakland, and the South Bay.

We’d like to thank the Warriors fans who participated in this video: the DeLeon family, Edison Yeun, Shakira Scott, the Hoda family, Arielle Vaughan, Jonathan Harden, and the barbers and clients of Cut to Contrast Barbershop in San Francisco, including Randy Table, Jerry Tupas, Alberto Argente Jr., Nelson Protacio, and Chad Gabriel.
